Keep only the audio of a video, as an MP3
Filmed podcast, interview, talk or song — how to save only the sound of a video, as M4A or MP3.
Many videos are listened to more than watched: filmed podcasts, interviews, talks, concerts. To take them on your commute or listen with the screen off, an audio file is enough — and it's much lighter.

- Play the video: the AllVideoDownloader icon lights up.
- Open the extension and, in the list of qualities, pick Audio only.
- Click Download: the audio file lands in your Downloads folder.
M4A or MP3: which one?
By default, AllVideoDownloader saves the sound as it is streamed, as M4A (AAC): it's instant, with no loss of quality, and every recent phone and computer plays it.
If you need an MP3 — for an old car stereo, a music player or software that only reads that format — change the format in the extension's settings: Settings → "Audio only" format → MP3. The extension then converts the sound to MP3 at 192 kbps, right on your computer.

Good to know
- The Audio only option shows up for videos served as streams (HLS or DASH), which covers most websites.
- The file name comes from the page title; you can set your own rules in Settings → File names.
- As with videos, only save what you have the right to save.
